The beginning of Nothing Is Real was at the end of 2018 when Steven & Jason won the coveted Beatle Brain of Ireland competition at the annual Dublin Beatles Festival. Having spent much time discussing the Beatles at any given opportunity, stretching the patience of friends and acquaintances, it seemed that a podcast would be a reasonable outlet for both their lifetimes of accumulated BeatleFacts™
The Beatles have generated so much talk over the years: Books, thinkpieces, documentaries, biopics, counter-factuals, editorials, retrospectives… that we have reached a point beyond mere biography to asking “what did it all mean?” At the same time it’s all based on a remarkable body of work that happened in a relatively brief time.
Nothing Is Real tries to cover both these bases: Enjoying all those records and movies while also looking at the circumstances, events and effects relating to it. Plus The Films of Ringo Starr. We watched all of Ringo’s films and did an episode about them so you don’t have to.
